Horror franchise Saw has come under fire from medics in the United Kingdom, who warn its graphic gore is responsible for a spate of cinema emergency calls. Halloween blockbuster Saw III has so far seen ambulances dispatched to three different cinemas to treat terrified customers.
One woman required urgent hospitalization, while five more people were treated by paramedics on the scene for distress.
Martin Ware, spokesman for Britain's East Anglian ambulance NHS trust, says, "Every now and then a film comes along that some people find hard to stomach. Saw III appears to have sent filmgoers over the edge. People need to be aware this film is not for the squeamish or faint-hearted. As well as collapses, we have also had reports of people running screaming from cinemas."
The two-hour film sees a madman orchestrate a series of gruesome tasks to make his troubled victims appreciate their lives.
