Pete TownshendThe Who guitarist Pete Townshend stormed out of a radio interview after DJ Howard Stern made references to the rocker's police warning for viewing a child pornography website. Townshend was questioned by British authorities after his credit card was used to access a pedophilia site in 1999.

The musician claims he was only viewing the content as research into child abuse. He was issued a warning and was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for five years.

The star, 61, walked out of the studio when the renowned shock jock mentioned the guitarist's controversial past, leaving bandmate Roger Daltry to complete the interview.

Defending his colleague, Daltry says, "Can you imagine you're accused of this stuff and then you're found not guilty? The wounds are so deep on the man, and it's just tragic because he's got so much to offer."

After the show, Stern expressed his apologies, saying he was "very sorry", to which Townshend posted a reply on the DJ's website, saying, "Howard, let's have lunch."
