Pete TownshendThe Who legend Pete Townshend has slammed ageing rockers - including himself - for continuing to tour into their fifties and sixties. The star, 61, has lashed out at Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones over their longevity as rock stars, insisting the novelty is simply in the fact that they are still going at all - and not because they are exciting to watch.

He says, "I don't think the big bands are going to be able to do this for much longer. I don't want to see Bob Dylan, I don't want to go out and see the Stones. I wouldn't pay money to go and see The Who, not even with new songs. I wouldn't pay money to see Crosby, Stills And Nash. They make me sick. When I say that, I mean I'm ageist about it.

"Somebody gave me tickets for Marlene Dietrich's last concert in London. She looked fantastic under the lights, but you knew it was an 80-year-old woman held together with glue and string."
