Johnny Cash's fabled 1969 prison concert album recorded at San Quentin in California is to be released in its entirety as part of a new three-disc collection. Johnny Cash At San Quentin was a big hit for the late country icon, who was advised by record company executives not to record in a jail.
It was originally released as a 10-song album but the new release, scheduled for November, will feature 13 previously unissued tracks, as well as the 1969 British documentary "Johnny Cash In San Quentin," which will make up the third DVD disc of the package.
The new tracks include Cash's duet with his wife June Carter Cash on "Jackson" and collaborations with Carl Perkins. Meanwhile, the DVD includes interviews with prisoners and guards who attended the concert.
