The SugarcubesIcelandic indie stars The Sugarcubes will reunite in November to mark the 20th anniversary of the release of their seminal debut single “Birthday.” Singer Bjork will rejoin former bandmates Thor Eldon, Bragi Olafesson, Einar Benediktsson, Magga Ornolfsdottir and Siggi Baldursson on stage for the first time in 14 years when they play a one-off show in Reykjavik on November 17.

A statement on Bjork's website reads, "All profit from the concert goes back into Smekkleysa SM, who continue to work on a non-profit basis for the future betterment of Icelandic music and artists."

The Sugarcubes became underground favourites in both the UK and US with their 1988 debut album Life's Too Good and 1992 single “Hit,” which preempted the group's split.

Bjork launched her solo career in 1993 with the critically acclaimed Debut LP and is considered one of the most groundbreaking female composers working today. She is currently working on new material with hip-hop producer Timbaland.
