Nia Vardalos* Greek authorities are lifting a ban on filming at the Acropolis for Nia Vardalos in the hope the exposure will boost the country's image. “My Life In Ruins,” which is being produced by Tom Hanks, will become the first movie ever to be allowed to feature the Athens classical landmark. Shooting on the movie, in which Vardalos plays an archaeologist tour guide, is expected to start next month.

* The house Billy Bob Thornton bought from rocker Slash was once a 'speakeasy' for illegal boozers during America's Prohibition era in the early 1900s.

* Winona Ryder is so embarrassed by some of her early work, she goes into video rental shops to hide the movies. The star regrets some of the films she made at the start of her acting career - and she is determined to conceal as many of them as possible. Ryder admits, "Nothing is worse than going into a video store to hide your movie."

* Rolling Stones star Ronnie Wood is battling global warming by creating his own forest. Environmentalists and fans can purchase a tree in the Ronnie Wood Wood in Mozambique, south-eastern Africa, for $32. The price includes a certificate designed by the guitarist, who is also an established artist. A spokesman for the CarbonNeutral Company, who are backing the project, says, "The trees soak up carbon dioxide, so they are helping protect our climate."
