R&B star Bobby Brown has stunned fans by choosing to announce his pending reunion with former boy band New Edition on the same day his estranged wife Whitney Houston filed for legal separation two weeks ago.

Brown, who rocketed to fame with the 1980s pop hunks, is planning to hit the stage with them for a one-off gig in the run-up to Christmas.

His agent tells the New York Daily News, "He will be reuniting with the original members of New Edition for a one-time concert at the Forum in Los Angeles on December 9, 2006."
