With Just $9 Million, 'The Covenant' Is Number One at Box Office
Teen horror film The Covenant has claimed the top spot at the box office this weekend with a take of just $9 million - the lowest total for a number-one movie for three years. Ben Affleck's critically acclaimed new film Hollywoodland takes second spot with a gross of $6 million. Affleck plays TV Superman George Reeves, who died under mysterious circumstances after wowing TV audiences in the 1950s as Superman.
American football film Invincible, which stars Mark Wahlberg, slips from the number one spot last week to number three with $5.7 million. Martial arts movie The Protector, which stars Thai actor Tony Jaa, opens in fourth place with $5 million.
Action film Crank rounds out the top five with $4.8 million.
