Veteran Movie Star Glenn Ford Dies

Glenn Ford in It Started With A KissVeteran actor Glenn Ford has been found dead at his home in Beverly Hills, California. He was 90. The Superman star, who had suffered numerous strokes, was discovered by paramedics yesterday. Police do not suspect foul play.

His Blackboard Jungle co-star Sidney Poitier says, "It comes to mind instantly what a remarkable actor he was. He had those magical qualities that are intangible but are quite impactful on the screen. He was a movie star."

Ford starred in 85 movies including Superman, in which he played Jonathan Kent, The Big Heat, Gilda, Don't Go Near The Water and It Started With A Kiss. His onscreen partnership with Rita Hayworth lasted for six movies.

Born in Canada, Ford moved to California as a child. He had four wives, divorcing his most recent spouse Jeanne Baus in 1994.
