Tom Cruise Did Not Ask Scientologist Leaders for Funding

Scientologist Tom Cruise has denied begging his church leaders to provide him with funding for future movie projects after being dropped by former investor Paramount last week. The actor has just signed a lucrative deal with a financial conglomerate headed by Washington Redskins owner Daniel M. Snyder. However, recent reports suggested Cruise had earmarked the Church of Scientology's coffers as back-up should the deal fall through.
A spokeswoman for Cruise's production company, Cruise-Wagner, slams the story as "completely untrue." She tells website The Scoop, "Tom has been good to the church, and they want to be there for him, but ultimately, this would have been a business deal."
It is widely believed Cruise was dropped from Paramount for his outspoken and often controversial beliefs, including the criticism of post-natal anti-depressant medication.
