Dave Chappelle Has No Regrets, But Misses Money From Comedy Central Deal
He has since blamed racial prejudice for his decision, claiming, "The bottom line was, white people own everything, and where can a black person go and be himself or say something that's familiar to him and not have to explain or apologize? I felt like I was really pressured to settle for something that I didn't necessarily feel like I wanted."
He now describes the move as "one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life" and is proud of his strength adding, "It's good to have a vision for your life, but your moral conduct and your moral code should be priceless. You should just have some values that you just hold, that you won't sell at any price."
But he concedes, "Now, economically it makes no sense at all."
