Snakes on a PlaneSnakes On A Plane has hissed, rattled and bitten its way to the top of the U.K. and Ireland box office chart, knocking animated movie Cars from the number one spot. The Samuel L. Jackson-starring action hit took £1.07 million ($1.9 million) in its opening weekend, to go with the $15.3 million (£8.1 million) it made in the United States.

Cars finished in second, taking just under £1 million ($1.8 million) ahead of Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, which sits in third place. Animated horror film Monster House is fourth. Teen comedy John Tucker Must Die entered the chart in fifth.
