Janet Jackson is desperate to prove herself as an actress and win an Oscar once she has finished promoting her new album. The hitmaker was forced to drop out of her planned role in upcoming movie “Tennessee” to concentrate on finishing “20 Y.O.,” despite putting on weight for the part.

But she still has her sights firmly set on lighting up Hollywood with an Academy Award-winning performance. She says, "(I want to) win an Oscar. It's just a passion."

Jackson began her acting career in the 1970s series Good Times. She played Penny Gordon , whom Willona had rescued from an abusive household, and who would eventually be adopted by Willona.
