Rapper LL Cool J has signed a lucrative deal with CBS to develop his own drama series. The star, real name Todd Smith, was highly sought after by a number of networks after he made an impressive guest appearance on the hit TV series House last autumn.

The singer was busy promoting his new album at the time, but the slew of offers and a reported seven figure contract convinced him to return to TV. LL Cool J had a regular role on the TV series "In The House" in the 1990s and has also starred in feature films Any Given Sunday and Last Holiday.
