Michael JacksonMichael Jackson's classic dancefloor anthem “Billie Jean” has been named the greatest song of the eighties by a music magazine. Experts for British music bible Q named the 1983 track from the 1982 Thriller album the top tune of the decade, ahead of New Order's electro pop tune “Blue Monday” at two.

“Blue Monday” was released three times during the eighties - twice in 1983 and once in 1988. Prince's 1986 song “Kiss” is at number three, Run DMC featuring Aerosmith's 1986 track “Walk This Way” at four and Guns N' Roses rock song “Sweet Child O' Mine” at five. Meanwhile U2's LP The Joshua Tree was named top album of the decade.
