Puffy AmiYumi Collaborated With Indie Icons For Latest Album; Listen To Three Tracks Here

Puffy AmiYumiAmi Onuki and Yumi Yoshimura are celebrating ten remarkable years together as Puffy AmiYumi, yet the duo's sound and style continues to feel fresh, as one listen to their brand new album Splurge will instantly confirm. The album features collaborations with indie icons Jon Spencer (Blues Explosion), Dexter Holland (the Offspring) and Butch Walker (writer-producer for Avril Lavigne and Pink).

Puffy AmiYumi are known for their deliriously eclectic recordings, and this continues with Splurge, in which Puffy Ami Yumi energetically dash all over the pop-rock map. "Radio Tokyo," co-written by Walker, features Mott the Hoople-style, classic-rock guitar riffs; the chorus practically demands an arena-full of arms holding lighters in the air, old school-style. The Offspring's Holland helps out on the bouncy punk-ska "Tokyo, I'm On My Way"; Spencer lends his demented growl and hyper-speed rockabilly guitar to "Go Baby Power Now." Along with their new writer/producer friends, Puffy AmiYumi are once again joined in the studio by their "godfather," power-pop genius Andy Sturmer (formerly of Jellyfish), who gave the duo their name, and Japanese rock star Tamio Okuda, who co-wrote many of their early hits, including their million-selling 1996 debut single, "Asia No Junshin."

There's just a few dates left on their summer tour:

July 11 New York City River to River Festival
July 12 Boston, MA Avalon Ballroom
July 14 Cincinnati, OH Bogart's
July 15 Chicago, IL Vic Theater
July 18 Detroit, MI St. Andrew's Hall
July 19 Cleveland, OH House of Blues
