John WayneTurner Classic Movies (TCM) struts its stuff in August with the annual Summer Under the Stars festival, a month-long celebration during which each day is dedicated to one of Hollywood’s most enduring personalities. This year’s festival is bigger than ever, with more than 400 movies and specials featuring 31 top stars.

It kicks off Monday, August 1, with a tribute to legendary actress Angela Lansbury, who sits down with TCM host Robert Osborne to discuss her life and career in a one-hour Private Screenings interview. Though perhaps best known today as author and sleuth Jessica Fletcher of the long-running television series "Murder, She Wrote," she has assembled a career spanning the silver screen and Broadway and garnering four Oscar nominations, four Tony Award wins, 14 Emmy nominations, three Golden Globe wins and a 2000 Kennedy Center Honor for her lifetime achievement in the arts.

Assembled from the network’s library of more than 5,000 films, this one-of-a-kind festival is something only TCM can present. For viewers, this is an opportunity to enjoy a varied selection from a star’s body of work, uncut and commercial free, whether it’s indulging in the work of a favorite actor or sampling something new.

Among the 31 actors and actresses honored in this year’s Summer Under the Stars festival are Groucho Marx (August 2), Gregory Peck (August 4), Humphrey Bogart (August 5), Doris Day (August 6), Burt Lancaster (August. 7), Katharine Hepburn (August 11), Walter Matthau (August 13), Lana Turner (August 14), Audrey Hepburn (August 19), Rita Hayworth (August 22), James Stewart (August 25), John Wayne (August 27), Ingrid Bergman (August 29) and Sidney Poitier (August 30).
