'Click' Opens at Number One; 'Cars' Takes Second Place
Adam Sandler's comedy Click, about a remote control that can alter someone's life, clicked at the box office with a $40 million take in its first week of release. Animated movie Cars was knocked into second place with $22.5 million, after two weeks in the top spot. Funnyman Jack Black's film Nacho Libre, about Mexican wrestlers, slipped one spot to number three with $12.1 million. The weekend's other new wide release, Waist Deep, starring Tyrese Gibson as an ex-con forced into a robbery spree to collect ransom for his kidnapped son, opened strongly with $9.5 million at number four.
The box office is expected to get a big boost over the upcoming Fourth of July weekend, with Wednesday's premiere of one of the year's most anticipated films, Superman Returns.
