Jennifer Aniston is desperate to prove her acting credentials by ditching Hollywood for a hard-hitting theatre role. The actress, who has carved out a niche in romantic comedies since leaving her famous TV series, hopes a spell on the stage will show audiences she's a serious thespian too.

She says, "I would love to do a play. I've thought about that a lot. Wow, I'd love to. What kind of play? I don't know. I'm open."

Two of Aniston's Friends cast mates - David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry - have already appeared on stage in London and Chicago to mixed reviews.
