'Cars' Zooms In To Number-One Spot
It marked the third-biggest take for the Walt Disney/Pixar team and toppled romantic comedy The Break-Up, which debuted at number one last week. The Omen was released on Tuesday and became the biggest Tuesday-release movie of all time, taking in more than $12 million in its opening day, but it failed to do big business over the weekend and has debuted at four with $15.4 million. The horror remake's total gross for its six-day week is a healthy $35.7 million.
The only other new entry in the box office top 10 is filmmaker Robert Altman's all-star movie A Prairie Home Companion, which made $4.7 million in its opening weekend.
