At Last! Spinach-Loving Popeye Gets DVD Treatment
Cartoon sailor Popeye will soon be available to watch at home after a long legal battle. The spinach-loving character's adventures will be coming out on DVD next year after Warner Home Video managed to reach an agreement with Hearst Entertainment and King Features Syndicate. The studio now has exclusive distribution rights for material from 1933 to present day. Spokesman of Warner Home Video, George Felthenstein says, "During the entire videocassette era, the classic Popeye library was not available for legitimate release because of rights issues that have finally been resolved."
