R&B star Chris Brown got his big break when his father was working at a gas station and happened to meet a customer who was a record producer. The singer was only 11-years-old at the time, but his father talked up his son's amazing talent and was able to get him a meeting.
He explains, "My dad was working at a gas station and a dude came in and said, 'I want to find some guys that can sing or rap or dance,' and my dad said, 'My son can sing!' So he hooked it up with my mom and I said, 'I'm going to start working with this guy.' He had connections with producers and other production teams."
Brown then went on to become the first male solo artist to release a single that went straight to the top of the U.S. Billboard singles chart when he was 16-years-old. Although he tours and has hit records, his family makes sure he keeps his priorities in order.
He adds, "I still have to do my homework."
