Michael Bolton refuses to give up on his television talk show dreams because he thinks he's got the format in mind to create a hit. The hitmaker, who is engaged to actress Nicollette Sheridan, has put his TV plans on hold to tour and promote a clutch of new big band and swing recordings, but he still thinks he's got what it takes to become the next big television personality.

Bolton says, "It's something that I'd like to do in the future. I've had a good look at how tough it is to not just get it going, get it started. I think the ratio is one out of every 13 (talk shows) is successful - and that's one out of every 13 that actually makes it onto TV. But if I could do a show where I could look at topics and social issues and have fun, but also do my musical thing at the same time, I would seriously consider doing that.

"I pitched an idea around about two years ago but it's certainly not on the front burner right now, but a talk show on TV would be a great base and a great platform for a lot of things that are interesting to me. It's hard work - once you get it going, you're basically waking to it and sleeping with pages on your bed. It's all-consuming."
