Paris Hilton was paid $200,000 for turning up to a charity event. The hotel heiress collected the huge fee for simply showing her face and waving to fans in Cannes on Saturday. The star is quoted in the New York Post newspaper as saying: "All I had to do was wave like the Queen of England."

It was reported that the socialite was paid a staggering $ 1million for a similar event in Vienna a few weeks ago. However, Hilton is said to be fuming that she wasn't invited to the Vanity Fair Party at Cannes' Hotel du Cap over the weekend.

Meanwhile, the socialite has been savaged in a new song. American comedian Mark Manne launched into a bitter tirade during a rendition of his ballad, 'Everything That is Wrong with America Today (aka The Paris Hilton Song)', at The Laugh Factory in New York.

He sang: "Paris, I want to hit you in the face with a bat/Because you pampered your dog, then got rid of her when she got fat. He continued: "Paris Hilton, why do I even know your name? Is it the short skirts? No! 'The Simple Life'? No! It's cause you'll have sex with anything. You're so mean, all bathed in green, an amateur porno queen/Go away, just go away from here, go away."
