Les Claypool Summer 2006 Tour Dates

May 19th, 2006 11:24pm EDT
Les ClaypoolBassist, songwriter (and now novelist, director, and movie star) Les Claypool will kick off a national tour at the Warfield in his hometown of San Francisco on June 1st. The tour runs through the end of July and includes stops at the Wakarusa and Bonnaroo festivals.

The tour will mark the release of Les Claypool's newest solo album 'Of Whales and Woe' (May 30th/Prawn Song) and comes in the midst of Claypool's most high profile month ever including the screening of his movie 'Electric Apricot' and his first novel 'South of the Pumphouse.'

Claypool will also have a few special events along the way. Bonnaroo Music Festival will see a reunion with Oysterhead (Stewart Copeland and Trey Anastasio) as well as the screening of Claypool's 'Electric Apricot: Quest for Festeroo,' his first full-length feature film. A mockumentary of the jam scene, the film stars Les as Lapland "Lapdog" Miclovich, drummer for the fictional jamband Electric Apricot and features cameos by some of the genres biggest stars like Bob Weir, Mike Gordon, and Warren Haynes.

During the tour, Claypool wil also be attending a series of book signings -- including NYC on July 15th and Boston on July 17th -- reading passages from his new book 'South of the Pumphouse' (Akashic Books).

Les Claypool will be joined on the road by his band of Gabby La La (sitar), Mike Dillon (vibraphone, marimba percussion), Paulo Baldi (drums), and Skerik (sax).
