Matt DamonMatt Damon has praised President George W. Bush's African relief initiative following a trip Zambia to help fight HIV and AIDS. The star, who spent six days in Africa, was amazed by the difference the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, alongside independent charity the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, has made.

And he feels optimistic that, with America's help, Africa will break the grip of AIDS once and for all.

He tells the New York Daily News, "The work that's being done and the people that I met who are on the front lines there, I just came away feeling like we're going to beat this. You walk into these clinics; you're surrounded by people who are alive and well because of the president's plan and because of this money."
