Rolling Stones star Keith Richards was rushed to hospital on Thursday suffering from concussion after falling out of palm tree in Fiji.

The 62-year-old guitarist, who had been holidaying on the paradise isle after completing the Australian leg of the band's A Bigger Bang world tour, reportedly slipped and banged his head while attempting to climb a coconut tree with fellow bandmate Ronnie Wood.

The star was immediately taken to a local hospital and later flown by air ambulance to Auckland's Ascot Hospital on New Zealand's North Island, accompanied by his wife Patti Hansen.

Last night a band spokesperson confirmed the star still remained in hospital under observation.
