Desperate HousewivesDesperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry took 10 years to graduate from college after he missed a writing test to appear on a TV game show. The 44-year-old left California State University in Fullerton in 1985, but the weekend he was due to take a mandatory writing test he appeared on The $10,000 Pyramid and won $15,000.

Unbeknownst to Cherry, a former professor convinced officials at the college to allow him to graduate with his sister in 1995 - by which time he was already an established writer/producer on TV comedy The Golden Girls.

According to PageSix.com Cherry only realized he had graduated when he checked the program at his sister's graduation. He says, "I said, 'Momma, look, I graduated!' My mother started to cry."
