Movie Snippets: Viggo Mortensen, Al Pacino Get New Projects

Viggo Mortensen* Viggo Mortensen is reuniting with his A History Of Violence director David Cronenberg for the thriller Eastern Promises. The film is based in London and centers on a nurse investigating the identity of a Russian girl who dies during childbirth. Mortensen will play a mysterious man caught up in the Russian Mafia.

* Al Pacino has joined the star-studded cast of Ocean's Thirteen. The Oscar-winning actor will team up with George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Ellen Barkin. Pacino will play Willie Banks, the owner of a high-profile casino and hotel in Las Vegas. The third installment of the franchise, which is scheduled to start shooting July 21, will be filmed in Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

* Author Nick Hornby's record store tale 'High Fidelity' is set to hit Broadway, New York, at Christmas - as a new musical. The novel has already been turned into a hit film, starring John Cusack and Jack Black, and now it's hitting the stage. The project will premiere in Boston, Massachusetts, in September and will open in New York at the end of November. Tony Award-winner Walter Bobbie has signed on to direct and Christopher Gattelli will choreograph. Amanda Green, Tom Kitt and David Lindsay-Abaire have scored the 'pop musical.'
