'Silent Hill' Rules Box Office; 'American Dreamz' Tanks

Radha Mitchell stars in Silent HillHorror film Silent Hill has screamed to the top of the box office with an opening weekend take of $20.2 million. The unsettling thriller, which stars Radha Mitchell as a mother searching for her lost daughter in a sinister town, knocked Scary Movie 4 off the top of the new list. The horror spoof comes in at number two with $17 million, taking its 10-day tally to an impressive $67.7 million.

The espionage thriller The Sentinel also enjoyed a strong opening with a $14.65 million debut weekend, to enter the chart in third place. American Dreamz, starring Hugh Grant and Mandy Moore, fared less well - the comedy debuted in eighth place with a disappointing $3.7 million opening weekend take.
