Rapper Shawn 'Jay-Z' Carter is delighted to be recognized as the greatest MC of all time, despite spending years fighting the music industry and its plaudits. The star, who is dating R&B superstar Beyonce Knowles, ranked top of MTV's Greatest MCs Of All Time list recently, beating out competition from Eminem, Rakim and Big Daddy Kane.

He tells MTV, "I'm not an artist; I'm a hustler. The industry didn't accept me right away - I felt it was my enemy. But as the years went by and I came to make friends in the industry and feel more accepted, every time something like this happens, it's a great thing for me."
