Buddy Holly's widow has decided to auction off some of the legendary star's possessions, nearly 50 years after his tragic death in a plane crash. Maria Elena Holly, now in her 70s, has finally decided to part with some of the late "Peggy Sue" hitmaker's personal items - such as his diamond watch, pulled from the scene of the 1959 air accident which claimed his life, and some early music recordings.
She tells the New York Daily News, "I'm not getting any younger. That's one thing I learned from Buddy's death. Once you go, you don't know what will happen."
The sale will be held by Heritage Auction Galleries in Dallas, Texas, next month.
