Edward Norton has slammed the Oscars and Golden Globe ceremonies as "orgies" of self-congratulatory behavior. The star admits he is often tempted to ditch acting altogether when the prize giving season comes round each year.

He says, "The award shows just f**king rude me out. I get really, really down on the whole thing. I mean, I'm glad Capote, Syriana and Good Night And Good Luck are being celebrated, but on the whole the thing that goes on between November and March is like an orgy. It's out of control. It's that totally disproportionate elevation of the artist and it's gross. I start to go, 'I should do something else.'"
