David Crosby Writes Best Songs While Falling Asleep
The hippie icon penned hits like Long Time Gone and Marrakesh Express as he was dozing off after a long day - because that was the only time his mind was completely free of other matters.
Once Crosby discovered his gift of being able to write hits as he was dropping off to sleep he made sure there was always a notebook on his bedside cabinet.
He says, "I'll be just drifting off and I'll blink awake, grab the paper and pen I always have next to the bed and start scribbling frantically. It's almost like automatic writing. It comes and you go, 'Oh thank you,' and you write down as fast as you can."
