Susan Sarandon is set to raise temperatures on firefighter drama Rescue Me when she plays a rich socialite who attempts to seduce one of the show's regulars. The star will appear on the TV program for three episodes this summer.

Interestingly, producers attempted and failed to hire Sarandon's partner Tim Robbins for a role in the drama last year.

"Rescue Me" revolves around the activities of a group of professional firefighters in a post-9/11 New York City. Denis Leary heads the cast as senior firefighter Tommy Gavin, who has allowed the pressures of his job to botch up his home life, separating him from his wife, Janet (Andrea Roth), and their three children. Even more disturbing is the fact that Tommy is constantly haunted by the ghosts of his dead comrades and regularly carries on conversations with his deceased cousin, firefighter Jimmy Keefe (James McCaffrey).
