Tommy Lee JonesTommy Lee Jones is hoping to follow up his directorial debut on The Three Burials of Melquidaes Estrada by turning Cormac McCarthy's ultra-violent "Blood Meridian" into a new movie. The actor was hired to write a screenplay based on the book, but the film has since been shelved because movie executives feared it was too violent.

He explains, "Sony Pictures hired me to write a screenplay from the book. I told them it would be an absolutely true adaptation of the book. They said, 'Fine, go ahead.' They gave me some money, and within a year I gave them an awfully good screenplay, which they then said was far too violent."
