feared he would be kidnapped while he filmed Matador
in Mexico City. The heartthrob actor was so terrified he'd be targeted in the city - where abduction is rife - he used armoured cars while he was shooting the new movie. He even changed his vehicles as a precaution.
Brosnan is quoted in Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: "There was a real concern. I had to swap cars three times because we had these unexplained blow-outs. What happens is they puncture the tyres right near the valve and of course you have to pull over and that's when these kidnappers can pounce."
The former 'James Bond
' star tried to keep the security risk from his wife Keely, because he didn't want to scare her. He revealed: "I was worried for my family and they were worried for me.
"I do remember a week before we left there was a big article in the Los Angeles Times which talked about all the kidnapping. I tried to hide it from my wife, under the sofa. But she found it."
