CBS Denies Van Halen Rumors Relating to Rock Star Series
Reports earlier this week stated Van Halen had decided to use the show to find a new vocalist after being impressed by the results of Australian rockers INXS's televised quest for a new frontman - JD Fortune.
Former Van Halen vocalist David Lee Roth, who left the band in 1996, further fuelled rumours by revealing on his radio show yesterday morning, "They really are gonna do it, I think.
"It's the 'Rock Star' open call schedule. They just handed me the schedule.
"They won't say who it's for, but I think it's for Van Halen."
But a spokesman for CBS Entertainment insists their act for the new season remains unconfirmed.
He tells Billboard.com, "All it is is a rumour, we deny it.
"We don't even have (an act) firmly established yet, though, hopefully we will shortly."
