Arctic Monkeys Snub David Bowie by Mistake
British rockers Arctic Monkeys once mistook David Bowie for an unwanted guest at a New York City gig and asked him to move from a reserved seating area. The I Bet You Look Good on the Dance Floor stars had flown in their families for their show at the Bowery Ballroom in November and had secured them the best seats in the house. But when they were showing their loved ones to their seats, they spotted a middle-aged man in their reserved area and asked him to move. Only later did they realize the man in question was Ziggy Stardust singer Bowie - and the embarrassed youngsters quickly apologized.
An insider says, "They didn't think that anyone would turn up to see them play in New York, never mind a legend like Bowie. David had heard all the hype and wanted to see them for himself." Bowie seemed unfazed by the mix up and happily watched the explosive show standing at the back of the hall. Bassist Andy Nicholson says, "David came up after and said he really enjoyed it. So that's nice."
