Matt Damon & Ben Affleck Deny 'Butch Cassidy' Remake Rumors
Veteran actor Robert Redford was "depressed" after hearing reports Matt Damon and Ben Affleck would star in a remake of his classic film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. OK! magazine reported this month the stars and best pals would be reprising Redford's and Paul Newman's roles from the Oscar-winning 1969 movie.Redford moans, "There is no shortage of good, original ideas and there's just no point to remakes. Why do they have to mess with things that were perfect the first time around."
Fortunately for Redford, both Affleck and Damon's representatives have denied their clients will be stepping into the famous cowboy boots. Affleck's publicist Ken Sunshine says, "(There's) no truth at all," while Damon's rep Jennifer Allen adds, "I checked with their agent when this appeared in OK! last week. It is not true."
