This Sunday, Jan. 22, feminist and activist Gloria Steinem tells CBS News Correspondent Erin Moriarty the ABC comedy Desperate Housewives is a sign of progress. Steinem tells Moriarty with a laugh, "'Desperate Housewives' is funny. It has the word desperate in front of it, which is a sign of progress. It certainly is enough to slow any movement into the suburbs.'"
Steinem gained prominence as a spokeswoman for women's rights. In the 1970s she helped found the National Women's Political Caucus, the Women's Action Alliance, and the Coalition of Labor Union Women (1974). She was also the founding editor of Ms., a feminist magazine.
The interview will be broadcast on CBS News Sunday Morning.
