Verve Forecast is proud to make its South By Southwest party debut with a showcase on Friday, March 17, 2006. Taking the stage at Eternal (418 East 6th Street) will be Verve Forecast recording artists Brazilian Girls, Jamie Cullum, Jackie Greene, Rhett Miller, Susan Tedeschi and Teddy Thompson. The lineup demonstrates the wealth of talent and diversity on this eclectic label.
Ranging from rock to jazz to dance to blues and more, the artists on Verve Forecast, a label of The Verve Music Group, represent different styles, influences, and attitudes, but all create intelligent, sophisticated music for the adult audience. Brazilian Girls is the hot New York City-based dance/electronica outfit that released their breakthrough, self-titled album on Verve Forecast in 2005. International superstar Jamie Cullum just released Catching Tales on Verve Forecast, the follow-up to his massively acclaimed Twentysomething. Young troubadour Jackie Greene brings his American Myth CD out just prior to SXSW. This new record, his second on Verve Forecast, is due on March 14.
Old 97's frontman Rhett Miller recently signed with Verve Forecast and will make his label debut with The Believer on February 28. Three-time GRAMMY-nominee Susan Tedeschi made her Verve Forecast debut with the powerful Hope and Desire last fall. Teddy Thompson, son of iconic folk singers Richard and Linda Thompson, will release his first record for Verve Forecast, Separate Ways, on February 21. The Sunday Times of London has called the record "brilliant," and MOJO gave it a 4-star rating.
In addition to the Verve Forecast showcase, Jamie Cullum will be performing at the Paste Magazine party (Friday afternoon at Maggie Mays) and Rhett Miller at the Esquire Magazine party on Saturday.
