18-year-old International singing sensation Hayley Westenra has received the coveted opening slot on Il Divo's US tour. Set to begin January 31st in Wallingford, CT, the songstress will tour with the band across the United States until the end of February -- approximately 14 dates.
The young singer is familiar with the US having toured many cities last year with her chart-topping debut CD, Pure, which sold over 2 million copies worldwide. On October 18th, Hayley, whom the New York Times called "the voice of an angel," released her follow up CD, Odyssey, in the United States on Decca. The CD features an amazing rendition of Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now," which showcases Hayley's new found vocal maturity, as well as an inspired duet, "Dell'amore non sis a," with worldwide icon Andrea Bocelli.
Hayley Westenra has charmed audiences across the globe with invitations that had her performing in front of Her Majesty the Queen of England, President George Bush and Prime Minister Tony Blair. She is one of the youngest artists ever to perform in such prestigious venues as Carnegie Hall, Sydney Opera House, Royal Albert Hall and Wembley Arena. She is also one of the youngest ambassadors ever for Unicef.
