French actor Gerard Depardieu has reportedly told a French newspaper that he’s retiring from film making. “I have done 170 films. I have nothing left to prove,” he told Le Parisien Dimanche.

One of Europe’s most prolific actors, Depardieu made his acting debut in 1965 in a French short film. He never looked back. After years of success in French cinema, the actor made his American debut in Green Card opposite Andie MacDowell. He later appeared in 1492: Conquest of Paradise, My Father the Hero, Hamlet, She’s So Lovely, and The Man in the Iron Mask.
