Madonna almost divorced Guy Ritchie after marrying him for "all the wrong reasons". The Ray Of Light singer confessed in the new MTV documentary about her life, "I'm Going To Tell You A Story" that she was initially disappointed with Ritchie but now realizes no marriage is easy.

She said: "My husband did not turn out to be everything I imagined him to be. I just wanted to end everything. It's not easy having a good marriage but I don't want it easy. I thank God every day that I married a man who made me think. That's my definition of true love." She added: "Your soulmate is the person that pushes all your buttons. Pisses you off on a regular basis and makes you face your s***."

Meanwhile, the Material Girl has made a surprise appearance at a New York university to give a lecture about her career. Students expected a screening of her new documentary but were given the chance to question the singer in person. When asked how she deals with life in the limelight, Madonna replied: "The biggest mistake that any of us can make is to believe what other people say about us. I don't feel like I'm trying on personas. What I always hope to do is change and evolve. I have no regrets about that because that's life and life
is about change."
