ABC has dropped Brooke Burke-Charvet as the co-host of hit reality series Dancing With The Stars.

The actress, model and one-time DWTS contestant herself confirmed that she won't be returning as Tom Bergeron's co-host for the upcoming 18th season of the show via Twitter, revealing that the news came as a shock.

"weird day….Shocking pre-season elimination #DWTS… ME. @Tom_Bergeron didn't even read my name. I won't be returning to the show this season," she wrote.

"I have enjoyed seven seasons co-hosting DWTS but understand the need for change considering the position of the show at this juncture. I've always been one to embrace change and looking forward to pursuing opportunities I previously wasn't able to entertain because of contractual obligations to the show," she added in a statement. "I've seen my fair share of shocking eliminations in the ballroom but this one takes the cake."

The show's executive producer Conrad Green also confirmed the news in a statement, saying, "We can confirm that Brooke Burke-Charvet will not be joining us next season.

"She's been a wonderful part of the Dancing with the Stars family since her triumphant win in Season Seven and will unquestionably be missed by our entire team. We'd like to thank Brooke for her years of great service."

Brooke isn't the only talent not returning to the show, earlier this month the network announced that music director Harold Wheeler and his 28-piece orchestra are also being replaced. Former "American Idol" music director Ray Chew will take over the duties.

Burke thanked fans for thier support in a tweet on Saturday, writing, "Thanks for all the love & support. I loved my time in the ballroom & I'll love my next chapter too. Change is positive. Love you guys!"

A new co-host hasn't been named yet.
