'Sucker Punch' directed by Zach Snyder (Watchmen, 300) stars Emily Browning  as Baby Doll, a girl who meets tragic circumstances in the 1950's.  The film opens with Baby Doll witnessing the murder of her mother and sister by her wicked step father...One look at his face and you can tell...this is a very bad man.

Baby Doll manages to get her hands on a gun.  She aims it at Stepdaddy-dearest but instead of doing the smart thing and shooting the evil creep, she drops the pistol and flees her mansion.  Not the best move...Her stepfather convinces the Police that Baby Doll is the one who murdered her mom and sis and that she's insane.

Stepdad carts Baby Doll off to an insane asylum right out of medieval England and makes a deal with one of the orderlies to have his sweet stepdaughter lobotomized.  This is the 50's after all.  That's what they did to annoying women back then.

What's a girl to do under these circumstances? Create an alternative reality of course where she can be a Samurai super warrior chick who can kick some serious ass.

Along with her fellow inmates, Rocket (Jena Malone), Sweet Pea (Abbie Cornish) Blondie (Vanessa Hudgens) and Amber (Jamie Chung) these girls fight Nazis, dragons, alien robots, and some really ugly monsters.  Scott Glen is along for the ride as the Wise Man.  He leads the girls on their various missions.  Also in the cast is Carlo Gugino as Dr. Vera Gorski, a kindly doctor/Ballet Mistress/Madame.

The film is too silly for anyone to  think it has some kind of  deep message about girl empowerment but it is fun and great to look at...'Sucker Punch' has the feel of a graphic novel with a little anime and surrealism thrown in.

The 'Two Jews On Film' had completely different experiences while watching the film...Surprise, surprise!  Check out our video and see who gave 'Sucker Punch' the most bagels.  It opens in theaters Friday March 25, 2011.
