'The Green Hornet' directed by Michael Gondry is written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.  The film stars Seth as The Green Hornet/Britt Reed.  Britt is the son of LA's most prominent and respected media magnate (Tom Wilkinson) His father takes every opportunity to tell Britt that he's disgusted and disappointed in him. You see, Britt is basically a party animal...think male bimbo with lots of money.  He has no desire to follow in his father's footsteps or anyone else's for that matter. But that soon changes when his father mysteriously dies and leaves Britt his vast media empire. What's a trust fund guy to do? Well the first thing Britt does is strike an unlikely friendship with one of his father's more industrious and inventive employees, Kato (Jay Chou). The two of them see their chance to do something meaningful for the first time in their lives: fight crime.

To get close to the criminals, they get the not so brilliant idea to pose as criminals themselves.  Britt and Kato hit the streets and  become vigilantes.  So 'The Green Hornet' shot in 3D has great gadgets, a wickedly funny Russian gangster named Chudnofksy (Christoph Waltz) lots of car chases with very cool cars, Cameron Diaz as Britt's secretary, who is a walking Wikepedia when it comes to crime stats, but in the end, the film really doesn't add up to much.  It's hard to buy the out of shape Seth Rogen as a crime fighter and his performance is basically a one note vanity piece.   The best scene in the film takes place early on.  James Franco, in a cameo appearance. has a run in with the Russian gangster Chudnofsky.  They have a brilliantly funny exchange.  If the rest of The Green Hornet' was as good as that scene  the 'Two Jews On Film' would have awarded it a much higher bagel score.

'The Green Hornet' opens in theaters, Friday January 14, 2011.
