Kristin Chenoweth -- who just quit The Good Wife after suffering a devastating injury on set last month -- was out and about in NYC today .... and by the looks of it a lawsuit may be looming.

TMZ broke the story ... Kristin was struck in the head by a piece of lighting equipment and rushed to the hospital by ambulance.  At the time the NYFD said the injuries were "minor," and her people told us she was fine.

But apparently that's not the case, because she's wearing a neck brace a month after the accident.

We called her rep to find out if a lawsuit is in the cards ... so far, no response.
