Final Performances on "The Voice"
It is a night of fun, duets, and defining moments on “The Voice” as the three finalists perform one last time for fan votes; but before the competition begins the judges, finalists, and team members performed “Hallelujah” as they hold hold signs with the names of the shooting victims and burning candles lining the front of the stage.
In what coach Adam Levine calls the most competitive season final ever, Nicholas David gets things off to a burning start with his medley of “Great Balls of Fire” and “Fire” in a performance the coaches call fun and entertaining with coach Cee Lo adding that Nicholas burned the house down.
For her defining moment song Cassadee chose the Blake Shelton song “Over You” in a performance that Blake called perfect and appropriate for this time with Americans having a heavy heart.
Each singer and their families were invited over to the coach’s homes for a visit; but in Terry McDermott’s case the visit brought with it a big surprise. Terry’s Dad came over from Scotland – Terry hadn’t seen his Dad for four years. Blake and coach Blake performed “Dude Looks Like a Lady” while Adam, sans shirt and wearing a long haired wig and glasses, played guitar.
For his defining moment song, Nicholas chose the Bill Withers hit “Lean on Me” in a performance that Adam called a killer version and Cee Lo said blew his away. Cee Lo was also in awe of Nicholas’ talent.
For his competition song Terry McDermott chose his son’s favourite song “Broken Wings” by Mr. Mister. Noting that there was some sort of malfunction at the beginning of the song, Adam said not only did Terry recover but nailed his performance. Saying that what Terry did was hard, Blake said that Terry did something epic every time he stepped on the stage and made classic rock songs sound new again.
Cassadee and Blake performed “Steve McQueen” as Blake played the guitar.
For his defining moment song Terry chose the Foreigner hit “I Want to Know What Love Is”. Christina called Terry’s voice incredible and Blake said the performance was better than the first time around; adding that Terry blew him away.
With a little help from Milo the mini Cee Lo, Nicholas and Cee Lo performed the Wild Cherry hit “Play that Funky Music”.
Capping off the night of musical performances was Cassadee Pope with “Cry” in a performance the coaches called amazing and better than ever.
The grand finale is a two event filled with musical performance that will culminate with the crowning of a new winner.
